From previous sell-out editions: Alchemists of Italy to Neu Alpinistas and Design Natives, The Aficionados’ collectable magazine series traces the intersection of architecture, design, craft and cultural identity. Each edition is a portrait of place told through the lens of design. Unwaxed Lemons continues this journey southward to the Mediterranean from the natural beauty of the rural inlands to the coastlines, the mountains and those nuggets of little towns that foster the history of the Med., where light, material and history meet with instinctive grace. Here, design is not decoration but dialogue: between past and present, texture and temperature, culture and climate. This is the Mediterranean rendered through poise and poetry: a story of how living beautifully begins with living well.

 
 
 

Unwaxed Lemons is a celebration of living architecture and centuries of artistry: a world of sun, stone and shade where history and design move in rhythm. From Moorish courtyards and Andalusian gardens, Cycladic architecture, Italian hideouts in Pienza, to fincas, casas, villas, and hotel townhouses. This limited-edition maps out a region of fluent texture and temperament from the vineyards to the coastline.

 

Publishing & Distribution

The magazine is conceived as an object of design:

148 pages, soft-bound, full colour and published in a 24.0 cm × 29.5 cm format. With a print run of 25,000 copies, Unwaxed Lemons will be released in early spring 2026, coinciding with the summer season.

Distribution extends across more than 110 hotels in 21 European countries, with placement in 1,600 suites, rooms, and villas, and prominent display in hotel lounges, bars, and spas. The edition will also appear through select retailers, including coveted newsstands: Iconic (New York), Do You Read Me (Berlin), New Mags (Copenhagen) and the Monocle Cafés in Zurich, Toronto, Tokyo and London.

A comprehensive digital campaign throughout the website: theaficionados.com will support the magazine, including an online shop, communication with the extensive subscriber database, and be featured on the website, which annually generates more than 1.6 million unique visitors.

Each edition reaches an estimated 175,000 in-room encounters, further amplified through The Aficionados online journal, newsletters and international press releases.

As with all volumes in the series, copies vanish quickly. Unwaxed Lemons offers brands, architects, designers and hotels the opportunity to align with a publication that speaks directly to the connoisseurs of cultural design.
